1. Learning Activity Architecture: Beyond the Basics I [Full] Waitlist me

This one-day, hands-on workshop provides an in-depth review of SumTotal Learning Activities, including what it provides, best practices, tips on special use cases, and the use of blended learning structures in the SumTotal TotalLMS. In addition, Beyond the Basics I will explore how to use learning activities for maximum flexibility while avoiding potential pitfalls and maintaining an organized and intuitive experience for your learners. 2. Marketing Your LMS Effectively: Tools & Techniques for Enhanced Enterprise Communication

This one-day, hands-on workshop provides an introduction to marketing planning during all phases of an LMS implementation—and for ongoing success. Using LMS features and functionality can be a great way to keep learning visible to both current and potential users. The class will include formal and informal discussions, break-outs, and a group project.

  • Compare the differences in packaging as SCORM 1.2 and 2004 for ToolBook and TotalLCMS courses
  • Modify a ToolBook course to display the user’s name that is stored in the LMS
  • Investigate how to add a ToolBook course to a TotalLCMS course

7. Pathlore Deep Dive: The Path to TotalLMS Processes

This one-day, hands-on workshop walks you through the most commonly used TotalLMS functions. We’ll explore features not available in Pathlore, such as domains and audiences, and we’ll discuss how to navigate specific functional differences between Pathlore LMS 6.x and SumTotal TotalLMS 8.x—including managing rosters, notifications, and registration. Additionally, we will review best practices for planning for an upgrade to TotalLMS.

  • Navigation—modes and task-based menus

8. Reporting for Productive Measurement: Report Manager & Beyond

This hands-on, one-day workshop explores SumTotal Report Manager* best practices, along with an advanced look at formatting reports and building charts. Participants will have the opportunity to bring report needs to class—and, as a group, we’ll build reports and define appropriate layouts that will work for real-world reporting requirements.

You will learn how to:

  • Establish relationships between LMS and data sources: What triggers population of data in a data source?
  • Report on complex Learning Activity structures by leveraging activity codes with server-side filtering
  • Determine and apply best practices for building meaningful reports
  • Lay out reports on paper before building in Report Manager
  • Identify the right data sources to use
  • Maximize the use of pivot tables
  • Create calculated fields
  • Use proper formatting and other options available under “Commands and Options”
